cuarto pilar de el juicio final en la fachada de la catedral de orvieto



The four pillars on the façade of the Orvieto Cathedral are covered with delicate and fine low-reliefs, made by artists, whose identity ís not absolutely certain. The best reliefs are usually attributed to Maitani.The picture shows the reliefs on the fourth pillar. On five orders are sculptured the scenes of the Resurrection of the bodies, the Last Judgement, Paradise and Hell. The branches of a vine divide the various stories.
1st and 2d panels:The Resurrection of the bodies. Hell. An angel drives the damned away with his sword; Satan in the centre, with his head crowned with snakes and hands tied by the tails of two dragons treads upon the damned. Above, there is sculptured the descent of the souls to hell.3d panel:Angels lead the chosen people to Paradise.
4th panel:The Saints.
5th panel:Christ the Judge.


Fourth Pillar: The Last Judgment 1310-30 Marble Duomo, Orvieto


Los cuatro pilares de la fachada de la catedral de Orvieto están cubiertas con delicados y finos bajorrelieves, realizados por artistas, cuya identidad no es en absoluto cierto. Los mejores relieves se suelen atribuir a Maitani.
La imagen muestra los relieves en el cuarto pilar. En cinco órdenes están esculpidas las escenas de la resurrección de los cuerpos, el Juicio Final, el Paraíso y el Infierno. Las ramas de una vid se dividen las diversas historias.
Primero y los paneles 2D:La resurrección de los cuerpos. El infierno. Un ángel conduce a los condenados de distancia con su espada; Satanás en el centro, con su cabeza coronada de serpientes y las manos atadas por las colas de dos peldaños de dragones a los malditos. Arriba, hay esculpida la bajada de las almas al infierno.
3d panel:Los ángeles llevan al pueblo elegido hacia el Paraíso.
Panel 4:Los Santos.
Panel 5:Cristo Juez.
